A little prep makes your first Brazilian faster, smoother and more comfortable.
Hair should be about a quarter inch long, roughly two to three weeks after shaving. Shorter than that and the wax can't grab it. If it's much longer, a light trim helps.
A gentle scrub lifts dead skin so hair comes out cleanly.
Clean, dry skin lets the wax grip the hair instead of the skin.
Keep them off the area for a few days beforehand.
Loose clothes feel best on the ride home.
You'll undress from the waist down in a private room and get comfortable on the table. Yamilet will ask if you want the butt strip and if you tend to get ingrowns. Then she works in small sections with soft wax, applying a thin layer and removing it with a strip in one quick pull. Stray hairs are tweezed, and the skin is soothed before you get dressed. A full Brazilian usually goes faster than people expect.
At The Waxing Mystery, a Brazilian soft wax is $63, or $48 on Tuesdays, and new clients leave with free samples and a free vajazzle.
Honestly, the first one stings. Each pull lasts a second, and the feeling fades right away. It gets noticeably easier every visit because waxed hair grows back finer. Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever about 30 minutes before can help, and breathing out as each strip comes off really does make a difference.
Most people stay smooth for three to four weeks. Because waxing pulls hair from the root, regrowth comes in slowly and softer than shaving stubble. Rebooking every four to six weeks keeps hair on the same growth cycle, so each appointment is quicker and more comfortable than the last.
First 24 to 48 hours: skip hot tubs, saunas, tanning, heavy workouts and tight clothing.
After two days: exfoliate gently two or three times a week to help prevent ingrown hairs.
Moisturize daily with a gentle, fragrance-free product. Your free samples are a great start.
Don't pick at bumps. If ingrowns keep coming back, a vajacial clears and calms the area.
A bikini line wax ($40) cleans up only the hair that shows outside your underwear. A Brazilian ($63) removes the hair from the front, the labia and, if you choose, the back. If you're nervous, some first-timers start with a bikini line and move to a Brazilian next time.
Hard wax is applied thick, hardens and is pulled off on its own. Soft wax is spread thin and removed with a strip. Yamilet uses soft wax because it grabs fine and coarse hair cleanly in one pass, which means fewer repeat pulls on the same spot and a smooth, thorough finish.

About a quarter inch, roughly the size of a grain of rice. That's usually two to three weeks after shaving.

How long does a Brazilian wax last?
Three to four weeks for most people. Rebooking every four to six weeks keeps it easy.
Can I get a Brazilian wax on my period?
Yes. Wear a tampon or cup. Your skin may be a little more sensitive, so some clients prefer to book around it.
Can I get a Brazilian wax while pregnant?
Many women do, but check with your doctor first, and let Yamilet know when you book since skin can be more sensitive.
What's the difference between a Brazilian and a bikini wax?
A bikini wax cleans up hair outside the panty line. A Brazilian removes the hair from the front, the labia and, if you want, the back.
